Workshop
Linking Figures

Program introduction
“Touching, posing together, and shaping into sculpture.”
Linking Figures is a small sculpture connecting Amsterdam and Seoul—a figure found in unexpected places, representing linked bodies, rituals, and the spirit of ancient clay figures (토우, to-woo).

Taking Photos
We will step outside together and use natural sunlight as our light source. In teams of three, two people will create a pose where their bodies touch, while the third person takes photographs—capturing three shots from different angles, including the front and side.
Sculpting with Clay
Using clay, we will recreate the connected bodies from the photos, paying special attention to the points of contact where hands or shoulders meet. Then, ask your partner about something they love or hold dear, and craft a miniature version of it out of clay to add to the piece.
Connecting the Sculptures
Finally, we will bring everyone’s connected figures together, joining them all into one unified work.
